The former Royal Naval School at Tal-handaq, Malta has a website for past members of staff and former pupils, with details of their reunions.
A new site, entitled "Images of the Royal Naval School Tal Handaq", has just been set up by Bruce Williams and contains 90 photographs of the school taken in 2004. Included is a 360 degree rotating panorama. There is also a companion site with further images, information and links.
Another site looking back at Tal Handaq is "Photographic Memories of the Royal Naval School Tal Handaq", run by David Gerrard (1959-1963) and featuring a wide-ranging photographic gallery.
There is now a Facebook group for former pupils of Tal Handaq, set up by Penny Ashenhurst (pupil 1972-75). Click here to access it.
Also in Malta, the Royal Naval School at Verdala has its own site which also contains a brief history of Tal Handaq and Verdala.
Moving on to Asia, we have the following sites:
St George's School, Hong Kong, which closed in 1996.
Slim School, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia, closed in 1964.
The Bourne School, Kuala Lumpur, mentioned in the 2003 magazine, has its site in the "Yahoo Clubs" system.
Changi Grammar School, Singapore.
Schools in Singapore generally can be accessed from the Alexandra Grammar School and St John's Comprehensive School site. There are recent pictures of the latter and of Singapore here.
Focusing on Singapore 1967 - 1969 is this site which has many photographs from several schools, especially St John's and Bourne, and also individual recollections of time there. Details are also given of the forthcoming reunion in Hatfield later this year (2007).
Khormaksar Secondary School in Aden has a very colourful site.
The remaining sites all relate to Germany:
In the 2003 magazine there was a feature on Plön, specifically King Alfred's School.
Three sites aimed at former members of staff are:
Prince Rupert School, Wilhelmshaven (1947 - 1972)
Windsor School, Hamm (1953 - 1983)
Queen's School, Rheindahlen Association (for former pupils too)
Other sites which cater mainly for ex-pupils but with interest for ex-teachers and others who served in the areas are:
An alternative network for former pupils is at EFKN. Registration (free) is required but then access to a major portal is given.
Kent School, Hostert.
Queen's School, Rheindahlen.
Queen's School, Rheindahlen - a Yahoo group mainly for pupils who attended in the 1960s and 1970s although one of the site owners is a teacher from the 1970s and 1980s.
Gloucester School, Hohne.
For those interested in the history of Hohne (formerly Belsen), there is detailed information with personal histories here, which is part of the site describing Der Truppenuebungsplatz Bergen.
The Army Children Archive was launched in October 2007 by Clare Gibson, who aims to collect, record and preserve details of the unique aspects of growing up as the child of a soldier from the 17th century onwards. Do visit her site at www.archhistory.co.uk and in particular the page on schooling. A recent addition is a list of members of staff, together with a photograph, who were teaching at the Bourne School, Kuala Lumpur, at the time of its closure in 1965. Visitors are encouraged to contribute information, memories and images, and the site is worth revisiting as it will be continually developed and updated.
Finally, if you wish to make contact with old friends or colleagues from the forces, whether still serving or long since retired, then Forces Reunited has a database of over 200,000 members. Membership is free.
