The Association's archive is housed at London University's Institute of Education. It contains a large number of items such as school staff photographs, photos of school buildings, magazines, programmes, diaries, most of the SCEA Bulletins, the Association's own Magazines and the minutes of the Association's AGMs and Committee Meetings.
Members are allowed to borrow items from the archive for display purposes, and often we try to mount displays of interest to members at reunions. If you have any ideas for specific themes for displays in future, then please contact the Archivist.
The Association's Archivist would also be happy to receive from you any items from your past life in British Forces' Schools which you have been keeping and would be willing to donate to the archive.
Please send any material to: Mr Peter Hall, Association Archivist, 6, Long Close, Fowlmere, Royston, Herts SG8 7SG.
CALLING VOLUNTEERS!
As you know, we have a burgeoning archive and we need help in cataloguing our collection. If anyone would like to assist in this task by giving a few hours of their time occasionally, then please contact Peter Hall.
"SCHOOL IS EVERYWHERE" DVD
This is the title of a film produced in 1965 showing the life and work of teachers and administrators with the British Families' Education Service. The original was a reel-to-reel film which is now housed with the National Film Archive. A more recent video reproduction is held at the University of London Institute of Education Archive, but now a DVD has been produced and copies may be obtained at a cost of £10 each by contacting Peter Hall at the address above. Part of the cost of each DVD goes to the Association's funds.
