The one association for all who have worked with service children's education abroad.
Have you recently left, or will you soon be leaving SCE? Have you worked for any of SCE's predecessors, such as SCS, SCEA or BFES? If so, then you are eligible to join!
Come on, admit it, you miss the camaraderie. You want to keep up with friends and former colleagues. You wonder what happened to those you worked with long ago. You would like to keep up with what is going on in SCE. You enjoy good food, entertaining chat and pleasant surroundings. You need the BFES-SCE Association!
By joining the BFES-SCE Association you will be entitled and enabled to:
- maintain and revive friendships;
- attend annual reunions, local and national (alternate years in London);
- have access to the growing archive stored at the Institute of Education;
- receive the annual magazine of the Association, and contribute to it.
The Association's archive contains multifarious items, including documents, photographs, records, memorabilia and artefacts. This archive is constantly being added to, and is proving of great interest to historians as well as to members of the Association.
The Association has several hundred members, the vast majority being former (and some serving) teachers, but also including some former advisors, administrators and educational psychologists. Most members now live in the UK but many are elsewhere in the world.
The Association is run by a committee of volunteers who are elected at AGMs, and who meet formally three times a year.
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN, DR MICHAEL FORD
Welcome to the Association's website! This site is designed to give you information about the Association easily and speedily. The Events page in particular is regularly updated so please make it a frequent port of call to see what might be happening soon. Then allow yourself to be tempted to come to one or more of our reunions, where conversation, comradeship and excellent food combine to help establish or renew friendships and revive jaded palates.
If you already belong to the Association, then please feel free to contribute to the site by contacting me. If you do not belong, then why not?! Contact our Honorary Membership Secretary, Joan Hunt, who will gladly send you the all the details and make you an offer you can't refuse (you can print off the Join Us page). See the Contact page for links to us and other committee members.
Tell your friends and former colleagues about the Association and this website. Above all please contribute to the Association's activities. It exists for you! I hope to see you all at a reunion soon.
Michael
